  I had the set lunch menu with the pulled chicken dish. It was terrible. Basically the darkest, cheapest chicken meat, complete with big greasy chunks of skin on that you wouldn't give to a dog. It was inedible as you couldn't eat it without ingesting revolting pieces of chicken skin. I sent it back and had the fish and chips instead which was nice enough. Live local but have avoided going back - what I was served is seen as an acceptable dish by the chef then I'm really not interested!

  High quality breakfast. A little pricey but sophisticated.

  The Cooks Garden has steadily gone down in quality generally for the past several years, but the price has remained about the same. Therefore the food I feel is not worth the price tag anymore. Particularly the steak. It's gotten tougher and tougher each subsequent visit - to the extent that they served it last, pre-cut (because they probably knew how tough it was). If you do go, the fish apparently is still very good. Deserts have also remained mostly unaffected.
